Maryann: We need to start a campaign for better (spicier!) Chinese food in the Drog! So glad to have met you and Frank...I will be in that coffee shop at least twice a week, no doubt!

Aoife: I was a bit nervous making such a bold statement, lol...Dinner du Jour actually said, "You better not let Daily Spud read that!" when she read it, lol. Perhaps our next twitter cookoff can be #sexytwitato or somesuch craziness...

About 10 years ago, me and my hubby were at Milano's in Dublin and they had a Cajun pizza on the menu. When the waitress came to take our order, I remember he asked if it was "spicy, or Irish spicy" (meaning not spicy at all). I was mortified!

I also remember inviting an Irish friend over for dinner one night when I'd made chili, and even though there was only 1 tablespoon of mild chili powder in the whole big batch, my friend's face turned bright red and she said it was too spicy for her and couldn't eat it.

Catherine: Yeah I actually read somewhere that samba in Ireland got its start in Drogheda - who would have thought?! I was impressed with what I saw - some of the musicians were really good (at least I thought so anyway!). So cool that you used to be one of them!

Incredibly, the festival's been going for nigh on fifteen years now! I spent a couple of years drumming with the original band in my teens and had serious craic with it - we played in the St. Patrick's day parade every year too. I haven't been to the festival in years, though, brilliant to see it's still going.
